Tracy Metro

Tracy Metro is known as a Ringmaster of the DOMESTIC CIRCUS. She does everything under the Big Top (of the home, that is) and she entertains audiences while she’s at it! Tracy is not just a domestic do-it-yourself-er … she’s an accomplished designer, organizer, party planner, shopper, cook, carpenter and crafter. Yes, Tracy is a veritable plate spinner, and no, Tracy doesn’t shop retail. If she can’t plan it, design it, build it or repurpose it, she’ll find it at a thrift store… for pennies on the dollar!

The Circus Strongman might lift the most weight, but Tracy is a STRONG WOMAN when doing handy gal / construction work on shows like the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN) new show, Home Made Simple. She was sawing wood (literally) with Skil Power Tools on TLC’s Designing Spaces and represented Maytag Appliances on the webisode series HomeEmergency on SheKnows.com. Tracy Metro is also known as Handy Jane on the women’s home improvement community, BeJane.com.

Similar to Harry Houdini’s amazing feats, Tracy will astonish your taste buds with her amazing treats. Tracy is FOODINI when she dreams up her off-recipe creations and teaches people how to take simple foods, from bland to brilliant. Tracy has represented major food brands including Kraft Foods, on media outlets including SheKnowsTV.com’s Corner Kitchen, Howdini.com and GoodBite.com.

People stare in amazement at the Circus Freak, just as audiences do when they see what Tracy pulls out of a local thrift store. When it comes to redesigning a room, a wardrobe or an entire house, Tracy takes apparel, home furnishings and bric-a-brac from yesterday to create modern designs of today. If you aren’t careful, she’ll have your popcorn flying onto your neighbor’s lap. As THRIFTY FREAK, there isn’t a sale, deal or an opportunity that Tracy doesn’t know about. Her bargain hunting nature combined with her technical abilities to repurpose and upcycle, allow her to take one person’s trash and well, you know the rest…

While the Contortionist will amaze you with what they’re able to do with their body, so too will Tracy the CRAFTORTIONIST with what she can create with just a few raw materials. Whether its fabric, leather, yarn or metal, Tracy’s crafts will blow your mind. She creates one-of-a-kind jewelry (mainly lost wax and wire wrap), she knits, welds, sews, scrapbooks (and this ain’t your grandma’s scrapbooking!) and even makes custom furniture.

The Lion Tamer is brave (or maybe just crazy) to walk into that cage. Often, Metro needs to muster that same bravery when she’s the CLUTTER TAMER, organizing people’s messes. Whether it’s a kitchen, a closet, a bedroom or office, Metro “sticks her head all the way in” to transform complete havoc into calm, organized and productive spaces in which people can live and work. Many of her tips and techniques are available on her informative website SocietyForOrder.com.

Think all it takes to be a good Knife Thrower is guts, good timing and a lot of luck, right? Well, it takes a lot more than that! It takes a precise plan, a well-coordinated stage, a team of professionals and one heck of a backup plan, in case things go wrong! The same goes for Tracy when she’s a PARTY THROWER. For Tracy, it’s not about Pin the Tail on the Donkey, cake and ice cream. Its’ about choosing awesome, relevant party themes and sticking to them religiously from Day One (including invitation, communications, dress code, special guests, music, party favors and even thank yous). Whether it’s an elegant, “Gourmet White Trash” dinner party, or a “101 Appetizers” potluck blowout (yes, there were 101 guests), Tracy meticulously plans, executes and cleans up so the only things left are memories of a lifetime. Tracy is currently in the midst of writing her first book, Themeology: The Study of Throwing Theme(tastic) Parties.

If you haven’t asked by now… YES, Metro IS her real last name! She’s married to Marty Metro, CEO UsedCardboardBoxes.com and she’s the mommy to a rescued Italian Greyhound pup named Sasekele (aka: “Bob” or “Mr. Burns”).
